49’s Twisted Thoughts on Election Day

You know I have to start with a little funny…

Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who the best patients to operate on are.
The first surgeon, from New York says: I like to see accountants on my operating table, because when you open then up, everything inside is numbered.
The second, from Chicago, responds: Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded.
The third surgeon, from Dallas, says: No, I really think librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order.
The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles chimes in: You know I like construction workers, those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over.
But the fifth surgeon, from Washington, DC shut them all up when he observed: You’re all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There are no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains and no spine, and the head and the ass are interchangeable.

So… First I have to say that I am not a fan of McCain’s policy regarding the war; BUT, he will get my vote for something I feel is more important. I’m going to bring up my love for guns again… Bang bang!!! …only to illustrate what I dislike most about Obama. Something that I feel is so unacceptable that it is the only reason I need to vote for someone else. In general, I think Obama could have been a great presidential candidate if it weren’t for his proposed tax plan and his views on civilian ownership of firearms - let’s forget about the tax plan for now…

Now, before you start sending me hate mail because I’m basing my decision to vote for McCain on Obama’s stance on one issue, let me explain - then feel free to send me all the hate mail you want. I’m not changing my mind but I respect the constitution, unlike Obama, and therefore I respect your opinion.

Since I’ve posted tons of pro-gun facts and funnies before I will only give you a few pertinent bullets here:

- ‘Gun control’, as Obama and many other anti-gun advocates approach it, does not work! It disarms the owners of legal firearms making everyone an easier target for those who possess AND USE firearms illegally.

- Now this might come as a big surprise to some of you, but the drug dealers, pimps, and other ‘gangsters’ ARE NOT going to bring their guns down to the local buy back programs. These buy back programs do not make any sense whatsoever if we want to get illegal guns off the street and decrease gun related crime rates! They are VERY poorly designed, entirely politically motivated, and do not work. If you don’t believe me, take a look at our friend Obama’s Chicago.
- Not only are these tactics ineffective, they actually increase crime rates!! “Real criminals” now know that the overwhelming majority of their victims are unarmed and defenseless.

Now picture the opposite: everyone who is able to pass the background and mental health checks for a gun license went for some formal training and occasional practice. And by the way, I firmly believe training and practice should be as much of a requirement as the background checks; this is where guns laws should actually be focused!
As a result, almost any average citizen potentially carries a gun… Don’t you think violent criminals would have a few more risks to weigh and some immediate consequences to consider before they decided to commit their next crime?  Statistics prove that this is the case… Go do your own research, I’m not your secretary!

OK, you might say “why should everyone need to carry a gun to feel safe?”… Well, sorry to break it to you, but that’s the reality of the world we live in. If you can’t understand that; you’re hopeless. You’re a prime candidate for something else I propose… we should all have to pass a basic knowledge test before being allowed to vote. Anyway, please send me any hate mail for that statement separately.

What type of gun control legislation works? Stiffer penalties, longer sentences, and NO CHANCE of early parole for those convicted of violent crimes. ALL violent crimes, not just those involving guns. And NO, the use of knives and fists do not entitle you to get out of jail any earlier than the crime you committed warrants. If you intentionally inflict physical harm on someone, you’re staying in the can for your full term, NO exceptions.
Instead, we give these criminals their freedom after serving a fraction of their due time due to jail overcrowding or budgetary constraints. Excuse the language, but FUCK them! I personally don’t care if a wife beater has to share an 8×8 with 10 other guys and no Vaseline in sight! If our penal system (that means ‘jail’ for those of you with other things on the mind) is going to let these characters out early, why send them to jail at all? Just put a ruler in every courtroom. The judges can save taxpayers billions in penitentiary spending by slapping these violent criminals on the wrist immediately following their trials; then they can go home and continue doing whatever they were doing to get into trouble in the first place. This is essentially what happens now at a far greater cost.

Back to the point… In the recent Heller Supreme Court case, the Court ruled that the 2nd Amendment guarantees the INDIVIDUAL’s right to bear arms. NOT state run or ‘regulated’ militias, the military, etc… INDIVIDUALS! I’d write ‘individuals’ again for emphasis but I don’t know of many other ways to interpret that word so I hope you understand that this means ‘average civilians’; i.e. you and me! Or, to help any Obama supporters understand, Joe the plumber. Yes, assuming Joe the plumber jumped through all the proper legal hoops, Joe has every right to carry a .45 ACP next to the wrenches in his toolbox if he so chooses. As a side note to all those who inspired my proposed voter registration test, ‘legal hoops’ is not to be confused with ‘legal loopholes’!

Obama disagrees… basically, not only does he disregard the rights of individuals as guaranteed by our great Country’s constitution, he just happens to be disregarding a right that puts us all at higher risk of becoming another victim of violent crime. I can do without money – I have before – but I am not willing to compromise or risk my health and wellbeing.

What does this tell me about Obama’s ideology and thought process?
Enough to make me vote for the other guy (despite my great opposition to the war in Iraq). …and I have to repeat, even though I love my guns, this is not based in any way on his actual position on guns but the dangerous thinking behind Obama’s position, how he views our constitutional rights, and possibly the most important of all, the potentially disastrous consequences for our country and it’s citizens of maintaining a particular position – ANY position on ANY topic - based on what the unthinking masses, a.k.a. lemmings, believe is best for you and me (and Joe the plumber too).

This country was founded on individual freedoms. I value those freedoms more than any material possessions I have or can hope to have in my lifetime and I’m not about to vote for anyone that does not intend to protect those freedoms to the bitter end.
